GOUCHER FIELD HOCKEY HANDS CEDAR CREST SECOND 1-0 LOSS OF THE SEASON

Towson, MD (September 5, 2009) – The Goucher College field hockey team handed Cedar Crest College its second 1-0 loss of the season on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Goucher’s Marissa Copan scored the game-winning goal for the Gophers with just over a minute remaining in the first half of play. 

Cedar Crest made a late push in the second half with three shots and two penalty corners within a three minute span, but could not convert. 

Senior goalie Rachel Orlen (Robbinsville, NJ/Highstown HS) had another outstanding game in the cage for the Falcons, stopping nine shots on the day.

Goucher held an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners, while holding a 17-3 shot advantage. 

Cedar Crest falls to 0-2 overall on the season, while Goucher improves to 3-0 overall. 

The Falcons will host Arcadia University on Wednesday, September 9th for a 4:00 p.m. non-league contest.
