SEIFERT LEADS CEDAR CREST FIELD HOCKEY TO WIN OVER WELLS

Aurora, NY (September 12, 2009) – Sophomore Emily Seifert (Reading, PA/Schuylkill Valley HS) scored the game-winner to lead Cedar Crest College field hockey to a 1-0 victory over Wells College Saturday afternoon in non-league play. 

Seifert took the pass from freshman Ashley Jennings (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) on a penalty corner with just under two minutes remaining in the first half of play to score the only goal the Falcons would need for the victory.

Senior goalie Rachel Orlen (Robbinsville, NJ/Highstown HS) stopped six shots on the day, while Martha Nowlan made four saves for Wells.

Cedar Crest held a 9-7 shot advantage, while Wells held an 11-9 advantage in corners. 

Cedar Crest earns its first win of the season and improves to 1-3 overall, while Wells falls to 0-4 overall.

The Falcons will host Gwynedd-Mercy College on Monday, September 14th at 4:00 p.m. in both teams Colonial States Athletic Conference opener.
