GRUZDIS LEADS CEDAR CREST FIELD HOCKEY IN WIN OVER WILSON

Allentown, PA (September 17, 2009) – Sophomore Tammy Gruzdis (Allentown, PA/Liberty) led the Cedar Crest College field hockey team to a 1-0 win over Wilson College in non-league play on Thursday afternoon.

Gruzdis scored her first collegiate goal when she took a pass from sophomore Emily Seifert (Reading, PA/Schuylkill Valley HS) eight minutes into the start of the second half.  That is all the Falcons would need to hold on for the victory.

Senior goalie Rachel Orlen (Robbinsville, NJ/Highstown HS) stopped two shots on the day for the Falcons to earn her second shutout of the season.

Cedar Crest held a 12-2 shot advantage, while also holding an 9-4 advantage in penalty corners. 

Cedar Crest improves to 2-4 overall, while Wilson falls to 0-4 overall. 

The Falcons will host SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday, September 23rd at 4:00 p.m. in non-league action.
