CEDAR CREST FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO SUNY NEW PALTZ
Allentown, PA (September 23, 2009) – Despite holding the lead for the majority of the first half of play, the Cedar Crest College field hockey team fell, 4-1, to SUNY New Paltz in non-league action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Falcons took the early 1-0 lead when freshman Ashley Jennings (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton HS) took a pass from freshman Catherine Onjack off of a corner to score her first collegiate goal.
SUNY New Paltz would answer with three goals in the final eight minutes of the first half to take a 3-1 lead. The Hawks tallied once more in the second half to go ahead, 4-1.
Senior goalie Rachel Orlen (Robbinsville, NJ/Highstown HS) stopped five shots on the day for the Falcons, while freshman Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA/Littlestown HS) made three stops in the second half for the Falcons.
New Paltz held a 16-6 shot advantage, while also holding an 19-7 advantage in penalty corners.
Cedar Crest falls to 2-5 overall and will travel to Neumann University on Saturday, September 26th for a 11:00 a.m. contest.
