CEDAR CREST TOPS LANCASTER BIBLE IN LACROSSE SEASON FINALE

Lancaster, PA (April 24, 2008) – Junior Amanda Dombroski led the Cedar Crest College lacrosse team with four goals and one assist in an 11-5 victory over Lancaster Bible College in non-league action on Friday afternoon.

Junior Jesenia Holguin opened the game’s scoring at 25:13 with an unassisted tally, but Lancaster Bible evened the score less than a minute later with a Jenna Godwin goal. Dombroski would put Cedar Crest up, 2-1 off a Tara Fikes pass, with LBC’s Rebekah Weidel evening the score again at 21:10.

Fikes would score from a Dombroski pass and senior Thersia Ault and Holguin each scored unassisted to put the game in favor of Cedar Crest, 5-2. Kirsten Gnagy would score twice for the hosts to put the Chargers within one, but Dombroski ended the half with two goals for a 7-4 Cedar Crest lead heading into halftime.

Weidel scored the final Charger goal at 26:46 of the second half, with Ault and Dombroski each adding another goal and Fikes adding another two to end the game at 11-5.

Dombroski led all scorers with 4 goals, finishing the 2009 season with a team-high 44 goals, while Fikes had three goals and two helpers on the day, giving her 33 and 10 for the season, respectively.

Junior Devin Ursini made 8 stops in the win, while Kayla Maynard recorded 16 for Lancaster Bible.

Cedar Crest ends the 2009 campaign with a 6-10 record overall, 1-6 CSAC.
