CEDAR CREST SOFTBALL SWEEPS THE COLLEGE OF ST. ELIZABETH IN TWO GAMES
Allentown, PA (April 18, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College softball team swept the College of St. Elizabeth in two games on a sunny Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Falcons topped the College of St. Elizabeth, 10-1 in the opener and posted a 6-2 victory in game two.
Senior Allison Holland threw a two-hitter in game one, striking out 10 batters. Senior Sarah Campbell led Cedar Crest in game one, going 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
Junior Rachel Orlen and sophomore Danielle Freeman each blasted triples and hit in a total of four RBI in the victory for the Falcons, while Campbell added a double.
Cedar Crest scored three runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning in the nightcap. Holland earned the win for the Falcons in game two, striking out 12 batters in seven innings of work. She also carried Cedar Crest at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Sophomore Tamera Gruzdis went 2-for-3 with one run scored in the nightcap, while senior Alyssa Kabat added a hit, two runs scored and an RBI.
Cedar Crest improves to 7-15 overall on the season. The Falcons will travel to the College of Notre Dame on Sunday, April 19th for a 1:00 p.m. CSAC contest.
