HOLLAND THROWS NO-HITTER IN WIN OVER THE COLLEGE OF NOTRE DAME


Baltimore, MD (April 19, 2009) – Senior Allison Holland had every pitchers dream come true when she threw a no-hitter in a 15-0 victory over the College of Notre Dame in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Sunday afternoon.  Holland also threw a one-hitter in the nightcap, leading the Falcons to an 11-0 victory.

In the opener, Holland threw all five innings for Cedar Crest, striking out 11 batters and walking just one.  She also went 4-for-5 at the plate, scoring three runs and hitting in two RBI.   Holland was just a homerun short of hitting for the cycle in the victory. 

Also having a big day at the plate for the Falcons was senior Alyssa Kabat, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.  Freshman Sam Makey hit the first homerun of her career, while going 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI and one run scored.  Sophomore Tamera Gruzdis went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, hitting in one run and scoring two, while senior Sarah Campbell went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. 

Sophomore Amy Stumpff went 2-for-4, while scoring two runs and hitting in one RBI, and junior Rachel Orlen added a 2-for-4 showing at the plate, hitting in one RBI and scoring one run.

Holland was on fire again in game two.  She threw all six innings for Cedar Crest, striking out 12 batters and allowing just one hit on the day. 

Campbell had a huge game at the plate in the nightcap, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.  Campbell was also just a homerun short of hitting for the cycle in the win.  Kabat added one hit and two RBI, while Stumpff posted two hits, three runs scored and one RBI. 

Cedar Crest improves to 9-15 overall (6-10 CSAC) on the season.  The Falcons will host Cabrini College on Wednesday, April 22nd for a 3:30 p.m. CSAC contest.
