HOLLAND NAMED COLONIAL STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SOFBTALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK AFTER THROWING A NO-HITTER
Aston, PA (April 20, 2009) – Senior pitcher Allison Holland (James Buchanan HS/Mercerberg, PA) was named the Colonial States Athlete Conference (CSAC) Softball pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 19.
Holland had every pitchers dream come true when she threw a no-hitter in a 15-0 victory over the College of Notre Dame in CSAC action on Sunday afternoon. Holland also threw a one-hitter in the nightcap, leading the Falcons to an 11-0 victory over the Gators.
In the opener, Holland threw all five innings for Cedar Crest, striking out 11 batters and walking just one. She also went 4-for-5 at the plate, scoring three runs and posting two RBI. Holland was just a homerun short of hitting for the cycle in the victory.
Holland pitched both games of a double-header on Saturday as well, striking out 22 batters, while posting back-to-back victories over the College of St. Elizabeth. She also carried Cedar Crest at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored in game two.
Cedar Crest is currently 9-15 overall (6-10 CSAC) on the season. The Falcons, who are still in the playoff hunt, will host Cabrini College on Wednesday, April 22nd for a 3:30 p.m. CSAC contest.
