CAMPBELL HITS BACK-TO-BACK HOMERUNS AS CEDAR CREST COLLEGE SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH KEYSTONE COLLEGE IN CSAC MATCHUP
Allentown, PA (April 24, 2009) – Senior Sarah Campbell continued her hot hitting streak as she hit back-to-back homeruns to lead the Cedar Crest College softball team to a 13-6 victory over Keystone College in game two in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon. The Falcons fell, 5-4, in game one.
Campbell, who is on a 16-game hitting streak, hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the third and fourth innings. She went 2-for-4 in the nightcap, tallying a career-high eight RBI and scoring four runs.
Senior Alyssa Kabat had an outstanding game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Freshman Sam Makey, who went 2-for-3 in game two, blasted a homerun of her own in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Sophomore Tamera Gruzdis had a 2-for-4 showing with two runs scored and one RBI, while senior Allison Holland went seven innings on the mound in game two, striking out four and allowing just four hits.
Meg Cunningham went the distance on the mound for the Giants, striking out three batters in game two, while allowing 13 hits.
Cedar Crest dropped game one, 5-4, to Keystone. Holland went the distance on the mound in game one for the Falcons, striking out eight batters and allowing just two earned runs. Kabat led Cedar Crest in game one, going 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting in two RBI and scoring one run. Holland and freshman Amy Nasinka each went 2-for-4 in game one.
Cedar Crest is now 10-18 overall (7-13 CSAC) on the season. The Falcons will host Philadelphia Biblical University on Saturday, April 25th at 1:00 p.m. in CSAC action. Seniors Sarah Campbell, Alyssa Kabat, and Allison Holland will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
