CEDAR CREST SOCCER TIES PENN STATE ABINGTON AFTER TWO OVERTIME PERIODS
Abington, PA (October 8, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College soccer team tied Penn State Abington, 1-1, after battling in two overtime periods on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
Penn State’s Amanda Pearce opened the scoring by nailing a penalty kick at the 38:08 mark in the first half to take the early 1-0 lead.
Junior Tabitha King then took a pass from junior Jennie Huber 5:38 into the start of the second half to make it a 1-1 contest.
Cedar Crest held a 14-12 advantage in shots, while Penn State Abington held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Cedar Crest freshman goalie Daniella Mendez made five saves for the Falcons, while PSU’s Jackie McCallister also made five stops on the day.
The Falcons are currently 3-9-1 on the season, while Penn State is now 0-8-1. Cedar Crest will travel to Marywood University on Wednesday, October 14th for a 4:00 p.m. Colonial States Athletic Conference contest.
