CEDAR CREST SOCCER FALLS TO PENN STATE BERKS

Reading, PA (September 10, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College soccer team fell, 3-0, to Penn State Berks in non-league play on Thursday afternoon. 

Briana Woods opened the scoring for Penn State Berks off of a pass from Brooke Kern at the nine-minute mark in the first half of play to make it a 1-0 advantage for the Nittany Lions. 

Kern then notched a tally of her own off of a pass from Woods at 14:04 to give Penn State Berks the 2-0 lead. 

Ariel Fuentes ended the scoring for the Nittany Lions just two minutes into the second half of play with an unassisted goal to make it a 3-0 contest.

Penn State Berks held a 16-6 advantage in shots, while also holding a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Cedar Crest senior goalie Heidi Paul had a game-high six saves for the Falcons, while PSU’s Cassidy Dawson made five stops on the day.

The Falcons fall to 0-4 on the season, while Penn State improves to 1-0.  Cedar Crest will travel to King’s College on Saturday, September 12th for a 7:00 p.m. non-league contest.

Cedar Crest will return home against Wilson College on Thursday, September 17th at 4:00 p.m. in a non-league matchup.
