CENTENARY OUTLASTS CEDAR CREST IN CSAC SOCCER ACTION
Allentown, PA (September 22, 2009) – The Centenary College soccer team handed Cedar Crest College a 5-0 loss in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
Centenary jumped out to a 1-0 lead five minutes in to the start of the contest off of a goal from Caitlin Ververka. The Cyclones would score again at the 23-minute mark in the first half to go into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Sam Marxen came off the bench to tally a goal for Centenary with 28 minutes remaining in the second half of play before Brittany Overland added a goal just eight minutes later to put the Cyclones ahead, 4-0.
Caroline Mountney was converted on a controversial penalty kick with just over 10 minutes remaining in the contest to give Centenary a 5-0 lead.
Senior Heidi Paul made 14 saves in the loss for the Falcons.
The Falcons fall to 1-6 (0-1 CSAC) overall on the season, while Centenary improves to 7-1 (1-0 CSAC) overall.
