CEDAR CREST TENNIS OPENS THE SEASON WITH A VICTORY OVER EASTERN UNIVERSITY

Allentown, PA (September 1, 2009) – Junior Sarah Schopf (Breinigsville, PA/Parkland HS) helped Cedar Crest College tennis with a win at No. 5 singles and again at No. 3 doubles to take a 5-4 victory over Eastern University in both teams season opener on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) posted a victory at No. 2 singles, while junior Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) added a win at No. 6 singles.

Senior Laura Shivley (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS) added a win at the No. 2 doubles stop, while junior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) teamed up with Schopf for the victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Falcons improve to 1-0 on the season, while Eastern falls to 0-1.  Cedar Crest will host Alvernia University on Friday, September 5th at 3:30 p.m. in non-league action.
