CEDAR CREST TENNIS MAKES IT SEVEN WINS IN A ROW WITH VICTORY OVER IMMACULATA

Immaculata, PA (September 24, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team kept its hot streak alive after winning its seventh-straight contest in a 9-0 victory over Immaculata University on Thursday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

Cedar Crest is currently 26-2 overall in CSAC singles action, while going a perfect 15-0 in conference doubles play.

Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and junior Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) earned an 8-1 win in the No. 1 doubles position.  Mallery and Kuebler have won seven-straight matches at the No. 1 doubles slot.

Senior Laura Shivley (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS) posted an 8-0 victory in No. 2 doubles action, while senior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and junior Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) posted an 8-4 victory in No. 3 doubles play.   

Mallery took a victory at No. 1 singles, while Wicks notched a win in No. 2 singles play.  Wicks won her team-high eighth-straight match, while Shivley posted a win at No. 3 singles to win her seventh-straight match.  Messner also won her sixth-straight with a win at the No. 4 spot.  Dichter posted a victory at No. 5 singles, while Cassandra Bejar (Allentown, PA/William Allen HS) took a victory at No. 6 singles for the second win of her collegiate career.

The Falcons improve to 8-2 (5-0 CSAC) on the season.  Cedar Crest will host Neumann University on Saturday, September 26th for a 1:00 p.m. CSAC match.
