NEUMANN TENNIS ENDS CEDAR CREST’S SEVEN MATCH WINNING-STREAK

Allentown, PA (September 26, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team fell, 5-4, to Neumann University in a key Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. 

Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and junior Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) earned an 8-6 win in the No. 1 doubles position.  Mallery and Kuebler have won eight-straight matches at the No. 1 doubles slot.

Senior Laura Shivley (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS), fell, 8-3, in No. 2 doubles action, while senior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and junior Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) posted an 8-6 victory in No. 3 doubles play.   

Mallery won her fifth-straight match and took a victory at No. 1 singles, while Wicks notched a win in No. 3 singles play.  Wicks won her team-high ninth-straight match of the season. 

The Falcons fall to 8-3 (5-1 CSAC) on the season.  Cedar Crest will travel to Penn State Berks on Monday, September 28th for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference match.
