CEDAR CREST TENNIS POSTS WIN OVER PENN STATE BERKS

Reading, PA (September 28, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team posted its ninth win this season with a 5-0 victory over Penn State Berks on Monday afternoon in non-conference action. 

The contest was called due to darkness and could not finish all of the singles matches. 

Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and junior Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) posted an 8-2 win in the No. 1 doubles position.  Mallery and Kuebler have won nine-straight matches at the No. 1 doubles slot.

Senior Laura Shivley (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS), won, 8-1, in No. 2 doubles action, while senior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and junior Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) posted an 8-1 victory in No. 3 doubles play.   

Mallery won her sixth-straight match and took a victory at No. 1 singles, while Dichter posted an 8-0 win in the No. 6 singles slot.

Messner, Wicks, Kuebler, and Shivley’s matches were all called due to darkness.

The Falcons improve to 9-3 (5-1 CSAC) on the season.  Cedar Crest will travel to Rosemont College on Wednesday, September 30th for a 3:30 p.m. CSAC contest.
