CEDAR CREST TENNIS CLINCHES THIRD PLACE PLAYOFF SPOT IN WIN OVER MARYWOOD

Allentown, PA (September 30, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College tennis clinched a third place finish in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with a 6-3 victory over Marywood University on Saturday afternoon in league action.   
 
Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and junior Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) posted an 8-5 win in the No. 1 doubles position. 

Senior Laura Shively (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS), won, 8-6, in No. 2 doubles action, while senior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and junior Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) fell, 8-6, in No. 3 doubles play.   

Mallery won a battle at No. 1 singles with Ashley Karli of Marywood, taking the match to four sets, while Wicks notched a victory in No. 3 singles action.  Messner and Dichter added big wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. 

The Falcons finish the regular season at 12-4 overall (8-1 CSAC) on the season.
