ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY TENNIS TOPS CEDAR CREST IN NON-LEAGUE ACTION

Allentown, PA (September 4, 2009) – The Alvernia University tennis team topped Cedar Crest College, 5-4, in non-league play on Friday afternoon.

Juniors Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively for the Falcons, but it was not enough as Alvernia won each match at No. 1 through No. 4 singles. 

Sophomore Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) and senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic) topped Jenny McKee and Kayla Morgan, 8-3, in No. 1 doubles action.  Messner and junior Sarah Schopf (Breinigsville, PA/Parkland HS) also added a win at No. 3 doubles.

The Falcons fall to 1-1 on the season.  Cedar Crest will host Baptist Bible College on Thursday, September 10th at 3:30 p.m. in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
