CEDAR CREST TENNIS FALLS TO ARCADIA IN NON-LEAGUE PLAY

Glenside, PA (September 8, 2009) – The Arcadia University tennis team topped Cedar Crest College, 6-3, in non-league play on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS) both went 2-0 on the day, taking victories in singles and doubles action for the Falcons. 

Mallery defeated Cory Mazen, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in No. 1 singles play, while Wicks won a thrilling five-set match over Megan Gillespie at the No. 2 singles slot.

Mallery and Wicks then combined to take a victory at No. 1 doubles over Mazen and Kate Wiseman, 8-4.

The Falcons fall to 1-2 on the season.  Cedar Crest will host Baptist Bible College on Thursday, September 10th at 3:30 p.m. in its Colonial States Athletic Conference opener.
