CEDAR CREST TENNIS TOPS CSAC OPPONENT BAPTIST BIBLE IN CONFERENCE OPENER

Allentown, PA (September 10, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team topped Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent  Baptist Bible College, 8-1, in both team’s conference opener.

Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS) opened No.1 doubles action with an 8-5 victory over Baptist Bible’s Kate Boger and Kellie Bernard. 

Senior Laura Shivley (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and junior Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) topped Julie Herr and Sarah Salzmann of Baptist Bible, 8-2, in No. 2 doubles play. 

Senior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and junior Sarah Schopf (Breinigsville, PA/Parkland HS) earned a win at No. 3 doubles by topping Rebecca Wagner and Sharayah McMindes of Baptist Bible, 8-0.

Mallery topped Boger, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position, while Wicks defeated Herr, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to lead Cedar Crest.  Shivley, Messner, and Dichter all posted 6-0, 6-0 victories at the No. 4, 5, and 6 singles positions.

The Falcons improve to 2-2 (1-0 CSAC) on the season.  Cedar Crest will travel to the College of Notre Dame on Saturday, September 12th for a 12:00 p.m. CSAC matchup.
