CEDAR CREST TENNIS REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN CSAC ACTION WITH WIN OVER PBU


Allentown, PA (September 15, 2009)
– The Cedar Crest College tennis team won its third-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference contest in an 8-1 victory over Philadelphia Biblical University on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and junior Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) continued their winning ways, earning an 8-3 win in the No. 1 doubles position.  Mallery and Kuebler have won three-straight matches at the No. 1 doubles slot.

Senior Laura Shivley (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS) posted an 8-5 victory in No. 2 doubles action, while senior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and junior Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) earned an 8-0 victory in No. 3 doubles play.

Kuebler notched a win in No. 2 singles play over Liz Stafford, while Wicks won her fourth-straight match at No. 3 singles over Jocelyn Palmer.  Shivley topped Hannah Maddox in No. 4 singles to win her third-straight match, while Messner also won her third-straight by defeating Tara Munro at the No. 5 spot. Freshman Cassandra Bejar (Allentown, PA/William Allen HS) earned a victory in her collegiate debut in No. 6 singles action over PBU’s Bre Stillman.

Cedar Crest is currently 14-2 overall in CSAC singles action, while going 9-0 in conference doubles play.

The Falcons improve to 4-2 (3-0 CSAC) on the season.  Cedar Crest will host Penn State Abington on Thursday, September 17th at 3:30 p.m. in non-league action.
