CEDAR CREST TENNIS WINS FOURTH-STRAIGHT IN WIN OVER PSU ABINGTON

Allentown, PA (September 17, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team won its fourth-straight contest in a 7-0 victory over Penn State Abington on Thursday afternoon.

Senior Maria Mallery (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic HS) and junior Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS) continued their winning ways, earning an 8-2 win in the No. 1 doubles position.  Mallery and Kuebler have won four-straight matches at the No. 1 doubles slot.

Senior Laura Shivley (Allenstown, NH/Pembroke Academy) and freshman Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg Area HS) posted an 8-0 victory in No. 2 doubles action, while senior Sara Messner (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita HS) and junior Amy Dichter (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) won by default.

Mallery took a victory at No. 1 singles, while Kuebler notched a win in No. 2 singles play.  Wicks won her fifth-straight match at No. 3 singles, while Shivley posted a win at No. 4 singles to win her fourth-straight match.  Messner also won her fourth-straight with a win at the No. 5 spot.  Dichter won by default at No. 6 singles.

The Falcons improve to 5-2 (3-0 CSAC) on the season.  Cedar Crest will travel to the College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday, September 19th for a 1:00 p.m. match.
