CEDAR CREST CROSS COUNTRY WINS ANNUAL GOLDY-BEACOM CLASSIC

Wilmington, DE (October 3, 2009) – Junior Katie Hartman (New Ringgold, PA/Tamaqua) led the Cedar Crest College Cross Country team to a first place finish out of eight teams at the annual Goldy-Beacom Classic hosted by Goldy-Beacom College on Saturday afternoon.      

Hartman, who has finished first for the Falcons in all six meets this season, finished in first place overall out of 74 runners in a time of 20:52.  Her time was an astonishing 1:15 faster than the second place finisher.  Junior Kristen Geisinger (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg HS) finished in third place overall in a time of 22:18.

Cedar Crest won the race with a team total of 49 points, while Eastern took second place with 69 points.  Stevenson finished in third place with 84 points, Community College of Baltimore County notched fourth place with 93 points and Bloomfield took fifth with 98 points.  Wesley finished in sixth place with 141 points and host Goldy-Beacom took seventh place with 161 points.  Monroe finished in the eighth place position with 231 team points. 

Cedar Crest will run at the Women’s 5K Classic held in Allentown, PA on Saturday, October 17th at 9:00 a.m.
