2010 Women’s Lacrosse Outlook

The 2010 season will show just how tough the Cedar Crest Lacrosse Team is.  Having only lost one senior to graduation after last season, it is looking like the Falcons are going to have a successful season in 2010.

All-Colonial States Athletic Conference Lacrosse Second-Team pick Amanda Dombroski will step onto the field for her senior season with ten other senior teammates.  Dombroski, a midfielder, led the Falcons with 44 goals and hopes to continue that into her senior season.

Not far behind Dombroski, seniors Kelly Oakes and Brittany Symbol both racked up 18 goals and are looking to come back strong in their final campaign.  Tara Fikes, a sophomore, was the team’s second leading scorer with 33 goals.  The team will be looking for her to step up on attack even more this season and continue to put the ball in the goal.

Defensively, the team is strong with senior Brittany Fikes and sophomore Emily Seifert playing tough to protect the Falcon goal.  Senior goalkeeper Devin Ursini had 185 saves and will have new goalies to compete with for the starting spot.  Freshman goalkeepers Kimberly Katsigianis and Sara Walsh are among the many incoming players that will strengthen the team and add some more experience.

First time Head Lacrosse Coach Marci Lippert is very optimistic about taking the position as well as the upcoming season.  “I am so excited for this group of seniors to get on the field.  They are such a strong group and I know that they will lead us in having a great season.  I am also very excited about the incoming talent.  There are some very good freshmen that will get a lot of minutes right away.”

The Falcons will lose a large part of their team at the end of the season with 11 players graduating.  Seniors Dah-ve Bell, Amanda Dombroski, Brittany Fikes, Jesenia Holguin, Mackenzie Lee, Danielle Niles, Courtney Thomas, Kelly Oakes, Rachel Orlen, Brittany Symbol and Devin Ursini will play their season opener against Alvernia University on March 15th with conference play beginning on March 20th at home against Marywood University.
