IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY USES BIG FIRST HALF TO HAND CEDAR CREST LACROSSE LOSS
Immaculata, PA (April 17, 2010) –The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team fell, 16-6, to Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference play.
Immaculata jumped out to the early 3-0 lead, but Cedar Crest freshman Candace Boardwine cut that lead at the 22:33 mark in the first half to make it a 3-1 contest. The Mighty Macs then added two more goals before Boardwine found the back of the cage again at 13:17 to make it a 5-2 game. Immaculata then tallied five unanswered goals before halftime to make it a 10-2 contest at the half.
Sophomore Tara Fikes came out firing for the Falcons in the second half to make it, 10-3. Immaculata then answered four times to take the 14-3 lead at the 18:05 mark. Cedar Crest scored three goals and allowed just two more goals over the remaining 18 minutes of play.
Cedar Crest was led by freshman Candace Boardwine, who tallied a team-high three goals and also added one assist on the day. Senior Amanda Dombroski added two goals and one assist in the loss, while sophomore Tara Fikes posted one goal and one assist. Junior Maureen Manning added an assist for Cedar Crest. Dombroski also added a team-high five draw controls and a team-high four groundballs.
Kacie O’Neill led Immaculata with seven goals and one assist to lead the Mighty Macs.
The Falcons fall to 4-7 overall (0-5 CSAC), while Immaculata improves to 4-9 overall (3-4 CSAC).
Cedar Crest will host Neumann University on Tuesday, April 20th for a 4:00 p.m. game time. This game will honor the 11 seniors on the lacrosse team.
