CEDAR CREST FALLS TO ALVERNIA IN NON-LEAGUE ACTION


Allentown, PA (March 22, 2010) – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team made a furious comeback in the second half, but it was not enough as Alvernia University handed the Falcons a 18-8 loss in non-league action on Monday evening.

Alvernia jumped out to the early 15-0 lead in the first half of play, but Cedar Crest made a strong comeback in the second half to outscore Alvernia, 8-3.

Senior Amanda Dombroski posted three goals on the day, while senior Kelly Oakes tallied two goals and one assist.  Freshman Candace Boardwine added two assists, while seniors Jesenia Holguin and Mackenzie Lee each added a goal for the Falcons.  Seniors Brit Symbol and Rachel Orlen each tallied an assist in the loss for Cedar Crest. 

Freshman Kim Katsigianis made 14 saves in the first half for Cedar Crest, while senior Devin Ursini made seven saves for the Falcons.  Alvernia’s Jenn Czarnecki made eight saves in goal for the Crusaders. 

Cedar Crest falls to 1-2 on the season, while Alvernia improves to 3-2 overall.

The Falcons will travel to Penn State Abington on Tuesday, March 23rd at 4:30 p.m. in non-league action.
