CENTENARY COLLEGE TOPS CEDAR CREST IN CSAC LACROSSE ACTION


Allentown, PA (April 8, 2010) – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team fell, 27-9, to undefeated Centenary College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon.

Cedar Crest and Centenary traded goals over the first 10 minutes of the contest to make it a 4-4 game at the 19:29 mark.  Centenary then went on a run and scored nine unanswered goals, before Cedar Crest senior Jesenia Holguin posted a free position goal at 4:03 to stop the Cyclones’ run. 

Sophomore Tara Fikes then took a pass from junior Maureen Manning just one minute later to make it, 13-6, in favor of Centenary.  The Cyclones scored four more goals before the end of the first half of play to make it a 17-6 game at halftime.

Centenary controlled the scoreboard once again in the second half, outscoring the Falcons, 10-3.  Senior Brittany Fikes scored her first goal of the season at the 6:30 mark in the second half on a free position shot.

Meghan Mars and Danielle Bay each tallied eight goals in the win for Centenary, while Kiti Ovaskainen added four goals for the Cyclones.

Senior Kelly Oakes and Tara Fikes posted two goals each to lead Cedar Crest, while freshman Candace Boardwine tallied two assists on the day.  Senior Amanda Dombroski added one goal and one assist, while freshman Leia Epstein and senior Brittany Symbol each added a goal.  Senior Rachel Orlen and Manning each tallied an assist. 

The Falcons fall to 4-5 overall (0-4 CSAC), while Centenary improves to 9-0 overall (5-0 CSAC).

Cedar Crest will travel to Wilson College on Tuesday, April 13th at 4:00 p.m. in non-league action.
