KEYSTONE COLLEGE OUTLASTS CEDAR CREST COLLEGE SOFTBALL IN CSAC SHOWDOWN
La Plume, PA (April 30, 2010) – The Cedar Crest College softball team dropped two losses to Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon at Edmunds Field.
Cedar Crest dropped the opener, 7-1, and then fell to the Giants in the nightcap, 8-6.
Freshman Samantha Kitts took the loss on the mound for the Falcons in game one. She allowed just three earned runs, while striking out five batters. Nicole Cunningham earned the win for Keystone, allowing just four hits.
Junior Tammy Gruzdis went 1-for-3 at the plate for Cedar Crest and scored the lone run for the Falcons. Junior Michelle Palmisano, sophomore Sam Makey and freshman Daniella Mendez each tallied a hit for Cedar Crest in game one.
Cunningham posted the win for Keystone in game two, allowing nine hits and just one earned run. Senior Alyssa Bonner took the loss for Cedar Crest in the nightcap, allowing five earned runs and four hits.
Gruzdis was hot at the plate for the Falcons in game two, going 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Mendez was also in fire at the plate, going 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Palmisano added two hits and two RBI in the loss. Freshman Lauren Salge added a hit and also scored a run for Cedar Crest.
The Falcons fall to 9-23 overall (4-16 CSAC) and are set to travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday afternoon in CSAC action for a 12:00 noon matchup. This game will mark the final contest of the year for Cedar Crest.
