CEDAR CREST SOFTBALL EARNS TWO WINS OVER THE COLLEGE OF ST. ELIZABETH


Allentown, PA (March 23, 2010) – The Cedar Crest College softball team handed the College of St. Elizabeth two losses in non-league action on Tuesday afternoon. 

The Falcons took game one, 14-2, in five innings and posted a 19-0 win over St. Elizabeth in the nightcap.

Sophomore Natalia Dial earned the win for Cedar Crest in game one, going five innings and allowing just four hits.  She also struck out three batters and allowed one earned run.  Freshman Laura Swanhall was outstanding at the plate for the Falcons, going 3-for-3, scoring two runs and batting in one RBI.  Freshman Daniella Mendez and Dial also added two hits for Cedar Crest in game one, while senior Alyssa Bonner and freshman Brianna Moran each tallied two RBI.

Freshman Samantha Kitts threw the shutout for Cedar Crest in game two, allowing just four hits, while striking out five batters in her first complete game.  Moran went 2-for-2 from the plate, while scoring three runs and batting in a game-high four RBI.  Junior Tammy Gruzdis went 2-for-3, scoring four runs, while junior Amy Stumpff went 2-for-2, batting in two RBI and scoring three runs.  Junior Michelle Palmisano went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Cedar Crest improves to 4-8 overall on the season, while St. Elizabeth falls to 0-10 overall.  The Falcons will host Wells College on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
