CEDAR CREST SOFTBALL DROPS TWO GAMES TO MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY IN CSAC PLAY


Scranton, PA (April 21, 2010) – The Marywood University softball team posted back-to-back wins over Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Pacer Field.

The Pacers took game one, 15-3, and also topped Cedar Crest in the nightcap, 9-1.

Marywood’s Kaitlyn Brennan went 7-for-8 at the plate on the day with six RBIs, two doubles and two triples and also picked up her sixth win of the season on the mound for the Pacers. 

Talia Williams got the win on the mound in the opener for Marywood and allowed two earned runs on four hits over 2.1 innings of work.  Kaitlyn Jones allowed just one hit in 2.2 innings of scoreless relief work for the Pacers.

Senior Alyssa Bonner went 2-for-3 for the Falcons in the opener.  Freshman Samantha Kitts took the loss on the mound but was charged with only five earned runs as the Falcons defense had five miscues resulting in six unearned runs for the Pacers. 

Brennan struck out seven and allowed one run on just two hits over a complete-game effort.  The Pacers belted out 15 more hits in the second game.  Brennan then went 3-for-4 and had two-RBI at the plate. 

Freshman Alyson Mason got both hits for Cedar Crest in the nightcap as the freshman went 2-for-2.  Natalia Dial got the loss after allowing seven earned runs.

The Falcons are currently 8-18 overall (3-11 CSAC) and are set to host Centenary College on Friday, April 23rd for a 3:00 p.m. Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup.   Marywood improves to 14-14 overall (11-5 CSAC) on the season.
