NICOLE PIETROBON NAMED HEAD COACH OF WOMEN'S SOCCER

DeSales graduate Nicole Pietrobon was named Wednesday as Cedar Crest College’s head women’s soccer coach in an announcement from Cedar Crest Director of Athletics Kristin Maile.

Allentown, PA (August 12, 2010) – Cedar Crest College Director of Athletics Kristin Maile announced Wednesday that Nicole Pietrobon, who played and later assisted at DeSales University, has been named head women’s soccer coach.

“Nicole brings a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to our soccer program, said Maile. “Her connections to soccer in the Lehigh Valley and beyond will help build our program in the years to come. As a committed athlete and a graduate of a rigorous academic program herself, Nicole will also be a resource for our student-athletes both on and off the soccer field."

Pietrobon, just the fifth soccer coach in the school’s history, will take the reins of a Cedar Crest program that went 4-14-1 last year.

This will mark the first collegiate head coaching position for Pietrobon. She served most recently as an assistant at DeSales as well as Head Coach of the U17 STM FC Lehigh Strikers Premier Team and the U14 STM Raptors Travel Team, both based in Allentown. She has also been active in soccer camps at DeSales and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Her credentials include a State Certification from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Pietrobon earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a minor in Sports Management from DeSales in January of 2010. Before graduating, she played soccer for DeSales and was a three-year captain, helping to lead the team to a 30-37-5 record over her four years including an appearance in the Freedom Conference playoffs in 2006. She has also played internationally in Ireland, Belgium and Germany.
