DEMUTIS NAMED TO BASKETBALL MEDIA ORGANIZATION SCHOLAR-ATHLETE TEAM
Bethlehem, PA (January 11, 2011) - Cedar Crest sophomore Megan DeMutis (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic HS) was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team of the Month at a luncheon at Starter’s Pub in Bethlehem on Tuesday.
DeMutis, a point guard, is averaging 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. She currently leads the team in assists with 34, in three-pointers made with 15, and in three-point shooting percentage at 40.5%. This season, she scored a career-high 11 points against Bay Path. DeMutis has started every game so far and at 36.8 minutes per game is seeing the most playing time on the entire team.
DeMutis, who is majoring in Accounting at Cedar Crest, was asked to participate along with the other Scholar-Athlete Team members in a panel discussion with local media. Questions ranged from "Who's your favorite player?" and "What's your team's mid-season grade?" to "What are your plans for life after basketball and college?" to which DeMutis, the youngest player named to the Team, answered "I'm only a sophomore, so luckily I don't have to start thinking about the real world yet!"
The other members of the Women's Scholar-Athlete Team are Missy Milanese of Delaware Valley, Shaina Dymond of DeSales, Jennifer Scherer of East Stroudsburg, Kristen Murray of Kutztown, Emily Smith of Moravian and Sheila Cook of Muhlenberg.
The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Media Organization is made up of seven NCAA Division II and Division III colleges in the Lehigh Valley, including East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.
