FRESHMAN WENNER, SENIOR GRUZDIS NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE SOFTBALL TEAM

Aston, PA (May 2, 2011) - Freshman first baseman Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory) and senior second baseman Tammy Gruzdis (Allentown, PA/Liberty) were named to the All-Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Softball Team by a vote of the league’s head coaches released on Monday by the conference office.

Wenner was named to the Second Team All-Conference. She led Cedar Crest in almost every category this season, with a .402 batting average. In 87 at-bats, she had 35 hits, 26 runs, 11 doubles, a triple and three home runs, a .655 slugging percentage,  and 157 putouts, all team-highs.

Gruzdis, a team captain, received Honorable Mention honors. She batted .343 on the year, leading the team in at-bats with 105. She had 36 hits, 23 runs and 12 RBIs.

Wenner was also named to the All-CSAC Sportsmanship Team.

Cedar Crest finished the season with an 11-21 overall record and went 10-12 in the CSAC, just a game from making the conference playoffs.
