GWYNEDD-MERCY MERCILESS IN 9-0 WIN OVER CEDAR CREST
Allentown, PA (September 25, 2010) – The Falcons were overwhelmed at home today by an aggressive Gwynedd-Mercy team that left the field with a 9-0 CSAC victory.
Two Griffins scored hat tricks as Cedar Crest was outshot 67-6 on the day. Sophomore goalkeeper Daniella Mendez (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) had an amazing 26 saves while going the distance in goal. And that distance was a true 90 minutes and not a second less - Gwynedd-Mercy freshmen Maura Gifford kept Mendez on her toes with a final goal at the 89:59 mark to add an exclamation point.
Cedar Crest finds itself at 0-8 overall and 0-3 CSAC on the season, while Gwynedd-Mercy is now 3-5-1 and evens its CSAC record at 1-1.
The Falcons will host non-conference opponent Penn State Abington on Tuesday, September 28, at 4:00 p.m.
