TENNIS TEAM KEEPS PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE WITH BIG WIN AT NEUMANN
Aston, PA (October 8, 2010) - The Cedar Crest tennis team took a big step towards making the postseason with a 5-4 victory on the road at CSAC foe Neumann University.
Cedar Crest took a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches thanks to wins by Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg) with Mackenzie Lee (Bar Harbor, ME/Mount Desert Island) and by Amy Dichter (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) with Alex Kuebler (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills). Although Neumann swept the top three singles positions, Cedar Crest was able to come away with the victory on wins by Lee at No. 4, Nina Colangeli (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) at No. 5 and Cassie Bejar (Allentown, PA/Wm Allen) at No. 6. Ironically, Colangeli and Bejar, who are doubles partners, individually defeated the Knights' Nicole Alexopoulos and Jennie Greenlee in singles after losing to the same duo at No. 3 doubles.
Cedar Crest improves to 6-5 and is 5-3 in the CSAC. Neumann drops to 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the CSAC.
The Falcons play on the road at Marywood in a CSAC match on Wednesday, October 13th, at 3:00 p.m.
