FALCONS LOSE AT MARYWOOD BUT REMAIN ALIVE IN THE PLAYOFF HUNT

Scranton, PA (October 13, 2010) - The Falcons met another of the Colonial States Athletic Conference's upper tier tennis teams at 10-2 Marywood today and came away on the short end of a 7-2 loss.

The Pacers opened the match 3-0 by sweeping all three doubles sets. Cedar Crest managed their two points with wins at No. 1 singles, sophomore Sarah Wicks (Bethel, PA/Hamburg) 6-2, 6-3 over Caili Nizamis, and at No. 3 singles, senior Amy Dichter (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) 6-3, 1-6, 10-3 over Melissa Hudock.

Marywood improves to 10-2 overall, 7-2 in the CSAC and has already clinched a playoff berth. Cedar Crest is now 6-6 overall and 5-4 in the CSAC. A win against College of Notre Dame at home on Saturday in the team's final regular season match would propel them into the CSAC playoffs. The playoff berth would come courtesy of Cedar Crest winning a tie-breaker with Baptist Bible, whom the Falcons narrowly defeated by a score of 5-4 back on October 2nd. Match time on Saturday is 12:00 p.m.

The CSAC women's tennis Team Championship will be held on Friday, October 22, from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 23, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the West End Racquet Club in Allentown.
