CEDAR CREST VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS "THURSDAY NIGHT THRILLER" AGAINST PENN ST. HARRISBURG

Allentown, PA (October 14, 2010) - Cedar Crest's young volleyball team made it two in a row with an exciting 3-1 non-conference win over Penn State Harrisburg tonight.

The Falcons dug themselves a hole early, going down by as many as 10 in the first set. When the score reached 20-10, Cedar Crest stepped up the intensity and began to inch their way back into contention, getting to within five before losing 25-17. With momentum on their side, Cedar Crest took the next set easily, winning 25-16. Then, however, the pendulum of momentum stopped swinging and some balance was apparent as Cedar Crest was just able to squeak by with a 26-24 extra point victory. In the fourth set, Penn State had no intention of going away quietly and again took the Falcons to the mat before Cedar Crest came away with the 25-23 final win.

Senior Lauren Seale (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Christian) had a great night with 26 assists, 20 digs, six kills, two solo blocks, three block assists, and a .357 hitting percentage. Sophomore Kim Katsigianis (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) led the team in kills with nine. Falcon freshman Kamala Meena Sutton (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) had eight kills, four aces, five digs, a solo block and five block assists.  Junior Katey Dauble (Allentown, PA/Wm Allen) and freshman Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley) both had ten digs.

The Nittany Lions' Jocelyn Mitchell had 11 kills and a .250 hitting percentage. Amanda Duda also had 11 kills along with 11 digs. Kara Boyd had 32 assists.

Cedar Crest improves to 4-11 overall and is still 1-5 in the conference. Penn State Harrisburg drops to 8-14 and 2-2 in the NEAC.

The Falcons will play a tri-match at home against Philadelphia Biblical University and Misericordia University on Saturday, October 16, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
