FALCONS FALL TO CAVALIERS IN CSAC LACROSSE ACTION

Radnor, PA (April 19, 2011) - Cedar Crest fell to defending Colonial States Athletic Conference champion Cabrini College in lacrosse action today. The Cavaliers, the preseason favorites in the CSAC coaches' poll, upended the Falcons 18-2.

The Cav's Jamie O'Hanlon scored a goal in the first two minutes of the game and went on to score a game-high five. The hosts began like a house on fire, scoring five goals in a tic more than three minutes of the opening half, until things settled down a little. Still, nine Cabrini players scored in all, as the Cavs went on to build a 14-0 lead with over nine minutes remaining in the half. They outshot the Falcons 23-2 in the first half, and goalkeeper Kim Katsigianis (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) had five saves.

It wasn't until the final 10:00 minutes of the game that Cedar Crest finally had a goal off a free position shot by Leia Epstein (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh). Shortly following that, Kenzie Bickhart (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) had a second goal on a feed from Mo Manning (Dimock, PA/Elk Lake). That brought the score to 17-2, and the Cavs added one more in the final 6:00. Better play in the second half by the Falcons resulted in fewer shots on goal by the visitor and fewer turnovers, but it would not be enough to overcome the much deeper Cavaliers. Manning had five ground balls for Cedar Crest, and Katsigianis finished with eight saves.

The Falcons fall to 2-12 and 1-6 in the CSAC, while the Cavs improve to 5-8 and 5-2 in the conference. The Falcons' next game will be at home against CSAC foe Gwynedd-Mercy on Monday, April 15th, at 4:00 p.m. The Wilson game for Thursday, 4/21, has been postponed.
