ZIEGLER FINISHES RESERVE CHAMPION; PROGRESSES TO ZONES
Flemington, New Jersey (March 20, 2010)- Junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) ended the 2009-2010 show season being named Reserve Champion in the Novice Flat division at the Regional Competition on Saturday. She would begin the day with an eighth place finish on “Atticus” in Novice Fences, before riding “Sweet Potato” in Novice Flat. The Reserve Champion finish earns Ziegler a spot at the Zone 3 Competition held on April 11, 2010 at Birchtown Stables (Forest City, Pennsylvania), where she will compete for a ride at the National Show held at the Kentucky Horse Park this May.
Also competing in the Regional Show, Junior Tatiana Ballreich (Huntingdon, PA/ Huntingdon HS) rode “Bear” to a fifth place regional finish in walk/trot. Senior Jackie Tuttle (Hermitage, PA/ Hickory) would finish out her intercollegiate career with a seventh place finish on “Spencer”, also in the walk/trot division.
Rounding out the Regional honors for the Cedar Crest team, junior transfer Jessie Price (Swedesboro, NJ/ Gloucester County) was awarded the Incentive Award as voted on by the teams of the region. This was Price’s first year with the team, coming to Cedar Crest with several years of international vaulting experience. Although used to standing on her horse and doing back flips off while he cantered in circles, she spent the year devoting herself to learning the sport of hunt seat riding and earned the team a total of twenty-four points in the process.
The Cedar Crest Equestrian Team finished out the year with a total of 246 points, earning 138 team points for a ninth place finish overall.

NAGY EARNS TWELVE POINTS IN HER FIRST CAREER SHOWS
Flemington, New Jersey (March 6, 2010)- Newcomer, Lauren Nagy (Whitehall, PA) earned a second place finish with “River” in advanced walk/trot/canter at the Saturday competition co-hosted by Rutgers University and Moravian College. This was Nagy’s second show in her inaugural semester with the Cedar Crest team. Nagy earned a total of twelve points in two shows combined with her first place finish at the Lehigh University show last week.
The day began with freshman Jen Preston (Whitehall, MD/ Harford Tech) placing second on “Red” in Novice Fences and fifth with “Parker” in Novice Flat. Also competing in the Novice divisions, Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) finished in fifth with “Cooper” over fences and with “Jazz” on the flat. Rounding out the Cedar Crest team for the day, Jessie Price (Swedesboro, NJ/ Gloucester County) would take a second place finish with “Trooper” in walk/trot, earning the team another five points.
The Cedar Crest team ended the day with a total of 21 points, earning 14 team points for a 7th place finish overall.

SOPHOMORE SAM DEVENUTA FINISHES TOP IN SHOW; ZIEGLER QUALIFIES FOR SECOND REGIONAL CLASS
Coopersburg, Pennsylvania (February 28, 2010)- The Cedar Crest College Equestrian Team had a terrific first show of the spring semester. Sophomore Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) began her day by riding “Eddie” to a win in Novice Fences and “Pilgrim” to another win in Novice Flat. She would later conclude her day riding “Jake” in the ride-off competition to be named High-Point Rider for the day.
The Cedar Crest team continued to shine in the spotlight when Junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) finished third with “Luke” in Novice Flat to level up to Intermediate Flat and qualify for her second ride at the regional competition this March.
Finishing out the jumping, Freshman Jen Preston (Whitehall, MD/ Harford Tech) earned a fourth in Novice Fences with “Griffin” and added another first for the team with “Phoenix” in Novice Flat. Other highlights of the day included newcomer Lauren Nagy finishing first in advanced walk/trot/canter in her first intercollegiate competition with “Jake”. Junior Tatiana Ballreich (Huntingdon, PA/ Huntingdon) would round up a sixth in beginner walk/trot/canter on “Summer”, while Jessie Price would finish up the day by riding “Autumn” to a second place finish in walk/trot.
The Cedar Crest team earned a season high total of 41 points, with 17 team points for an 8th place finish overall.

FRESHMAN JEN PRESTON FINISHES THIRD OVERALL AT CEDAR CREST’S ANNUAL HOST SHOW
Flemington, New Jersey (November 1, 2009)- Freshman Jen Preston (Whitehall, MD/ Harford Tech) proved her ability on Sunday when she finished 3rd place overall in the annual show hosted by Cedar Crest College. Jen earned two 1st place finishes on “Jazz” in Novice Fences and Novice Flat, before going on to finish 3rd overall with “Red” in the high-point ride-off.
The day began with Junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) and “Corkibu” finishing 4th in Intermediate Fences and 6th with “Snickers” in Novice Flat. Rounding out the Novice divisions, Sam DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) earned a 2nd over fences and winning the flat.
Senior Amanda Anderson (Neenah, WI/ Neenah) earned a 3 rd in Beginner Walk/Trot Canter. Cedar Crest would finish out the day in the Walk/Trot class with Junior Mattie Lennox (Whitehall, PA/ LCCC) finishing 2nd, her highest career finish, and Senior Tareva Byrd (Philadelphia, PA/ Phil-Mont Christian Academy) finishing 3rd. Junior Jessie Price (Swedesboro, NJ/ Gloucester County) and Sophomore Emily Seifert (Reading, PA/ Schuykill Valley) would both finishing the day by riding “Flapper” to a 6th place finish each.
The Cedar Crest team finished the day with a total of 45 points, earning 16 team points for a 7th place finish overall.

CEDAR CREST HAS STRONG SHOWING AT KUTZTOWN
New Tripoli, Pennsylvania (October 31, 2009)- The Cedar Crest Equestrian Team had a strong showing at the Kutztown University Horse Show on Saturday. The day began with Junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) earning 3rd place finish with “Streak” in Intermediate Fences, earning the team their first four points of the day. Freshman Jen Preston (Whitehall, MD/ Harford Tech) would continue the points over fences by finishing with another 3rd in the Novice Fences division also on “Streak”. The final points in the class would be picked up by Sophomore Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) when she rode “Flash” to a 5th place finish.
The afternoon would begin with Novice Flat and another 5th place finish by DeVenuta and “Bailey”, followed by a 6th by Preston. Junior Tatiana Ballreich (Huntingdon, PA/ Huntingdon) would earn the team another five points with her 2nd place ride on “Joe” in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter and Amanda Anderson would also pick a 4th in the class. Rounding out the day in Walk/Trot, Juniors Mattie Lennox (Whitehall, PA/ LCCC) and Jessie Price (Swedesboro, NJ/ Gloucester County) would both finish with 3rd place rides.
The Cedar Crest team ended the day with a total of 29 points, earning 16 team points for a 8th place finish overall.

CEDAR CREST COLLEGE EQUESTRIAN TEAM STARTS OFF SEASON STRONG
Flemington, New Jersey (September 27, 2009)- The Cedar Crest College Equestrian Team began their season on Sunday with a strong showing. Junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) began the day by riding “Mikey” to a 4th in Novice Fences and placing 4th on “Parker” in Novice Flat. Both Freshman Jen Preston (Whitehall, MD/ Harford Tech) and Sophomore Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) earned 6th place finishes on “Parker” in Novice Flat.
Senior Amanda Anderson (Neenah, WI/ Neenah) would continue the day finishing Reserve with “Cooper” in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter. Junior Tatiana Ballreich (Huntingdon, PA/ Huntingdon) earned the team seven points by earning a 1st Place with “Tucker” in Walk/Trot. Senior Mattie Lennox (Whitehall, PA/ LCCC) and “Moon” would post a 4th in Walk/Trot, with Sophomore Emily Seifert (Reading, PA/ Schuykill Valley) and Senior Tareva Byrd (Philadelphia, PA/ Phil-Mont Christian Academy) placing 5th on “Flapper” and 6th on “Moon” respectively in their first IHSA competition.
The team earned a total of 21 points on the day and posted 11 team points to place 9th overall.

ZIEGLER PLACES AMONG TOP SEVEN RIDERS AT THE ZONE 3 REGION 4 ALUMNI SHOW
Flemington, New Jersey (October 3, 2009)- Junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) had a strong showing on Saturday finishing 1st on “Atticus” in Novice Fences and 2nd on “Red” in Novice Flat, earning her and “Spencer” a spot in the High Point Rider Ride Off with only 6 other riders.
Sophomore Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) also placed in Novice Flat with a 6th place ride on “Bear”. In Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, Senior Amanda Anderson (Neenah, WI/ Neenah) earned 3 team points, finishing 4th on “Spencer”.
Freshman vaulter, Jessie Price (Swedesboro, NJ/ Gloucester Country) proved her versatility by finishing 3rd in Walk/Trot on “Classy”. Mattie Lennox (Whitehall, PA/ LCCC) and “Cooper” finished 6th.
The team earned a total of 21 points on the day and posted 15 team points to place 9th overall.

BALLREICH AND TUTTLE QUALIFY FOR REGIONALS AT BLOOMSBURG SHOW
Flemington, New Jersey (October 11, 2009)- Junior Tatiana Ballreich (Huntingdon, PA/ Huntingdon) and Senior Jackie Tuttle (Hermitage, PA/ Hickory) both qualified for the Regional Show in Walk/Trot when they pointed up to Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter on Sunday. Tatiana and “Cooper” would earn the team seven points with her 1st place finish, while Jackie and “Tucker” would finish 3rd.
Sophomore Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) would step up for the team finishing with a 2nd on “Atticus” in Novice Fences and 3rd on “Griffyn” in Novice Flat, single handedly earning a total of 9 team points for the day. Senior Amanda Anderson (Neenah, WI/ Neenah) added another point with her 6th place finish in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter on “Cooper”.
In addition to Ballreich and Tuttle’s performances in Walk/Trot, Seniors Mattie Lennox (Whitehall, PA/ LCCC) finished 5th on “Tucker” and Tareva Byrd (Philadelphia, PA/ Phil-Mont Christian Academy) placed 6th on “Spencer”.
The team earned a total of 24 points on the day, with 17 team points to finish 9th overall.

ZIEGLER QUALIFYS FOR REGIONALS AT LEHIGH SHOW
Newtown, Pennsylvania (October 17, 2009)- Junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) qualified for the Regional Show in Novice Fences on Saturday with a 6th place finish on “Star”. Ziegler also added 3 team points riding “Kramer” to a 4th place finish in Novice Flat. Ziegler is the third Cedar Crest rider to qualify for Regionals already this year.
Freshman Jen Preston (Whitehall, MD/ Harford Tech) finished 6th on “Marco” for her first Novice Fences placing. Preston also finished 2nd in Novice Flat on “Kramer”. Sophomore Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) also placed in Novice Flat with a 6th place on “Luke”.
Freshman Jessie Price (Swedesboro, NJ/ Gloucester County) continued to shine in Walk/Trot riding “Emanon” to a 2nd place finish and 5 team points. Sophomore Emily Seifert (Reading, PA/ Schuykill Valley) riding “Emanon” and Senior Mattie Lennox (Whitehall, MD/ LCCC) riding “Summer” both placed with 6th place finishes.
The team earned a total of 18 points on the day, with 7 team points to finish 9th overall.

CEDAR CREST COLLEGE EQUESTRIAN TEAM HAS STRONG SHOWING AT SCRANTON/WILKES SHOW
Forest City, Pennsylvania (October 25, 2009)- The Cedar Crest College Equestrian Team had a strong showing at the University of Scranton and Wilkes University co-hosted show on Sunday. The morning included a 4th place finish by junior Eryn Ziegler (Kutztown, PA/ Kutztown) and “Phil” in Intermediate Fences, earning the team 3 points. Sophomore Samantha DeVenuta (Slatington, PA/ Northern Lehigh) riding “Aeden” and freshman Jen Preston (Whitehall, MD/ Harford Tech) riding “Star” would finish 2nd and 3rd respectfully in Novice Fences.
In the flat, DeVenuta would earn a 3rd place finish on “Autumn”, while Preston would finish 5th with “Eddie”. Senior Jackie Tuttle (Hermitage, PA/ Hickory) would ride “Jake” to a 6th place finish in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, followed by junior Tatiana Ballreich (Huntingdon, PA/ Huntingdon) and “Dakota” earning another 6th and 1 team point. Seniors Mattie Lennox (Whitehall, PA/ LCCC) and Tareva Byrd (Philadelphia, PA/ Phil-Mont Christian Academy) added points in Walk/Trot when Byrd added 1 team point with a 6th place finish on “Eddie”. Lennox finished with her highest placing ever when she rode “Summer” to a 3rd place finish.
The team earned a total of 25 points, with 12 team points for a 9th place finish.
