Head Coach
Herman Gestl
First Season


Gestl assumes the position of head coach after being an assistant coach at Cedar Crest College for the past six seasons. Gestl was previously the softball coach at Northampton High School for six seasons and led the 1996 team to a PA State Title and guided the team to six consecutive playoff appearances. He has also coached 14-and 16-and under ASA Fastpitch Softball. His 16-and under team finished with a 112-18 overall record after placing fourth at Nationals.

As a player, Gestl had a tryout with the Cinncinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Phillies and played in the Blue Mountain League 12 more years.

Gestl is the father of former Cedar Crest softball coach Kristy Henritzy, the winningest softball coach in Cedar Crest history.

Assistant Coach
Niki Schultz
First Season

Schultz, a 1995 graduate of Moravian College, was a member of the 1994 and 1995 MAC Commonwealth League Champions. In 1994, she was named to the All-MAC Team and was also named an All-American with a batting average of .478 and an NCAA lifetime batting average of .401. Prior to transferring to Moravian in 1993, she was a member of the 1992 Muhlenberg College MAC Centennial League Champions.

Schultz worked as an assistant coach at Parkland High School from 2006 to 2009. She was a member of the coaching staff of the 2009 AAAA Softball Pennsylvania State Champions while at Parkland. The team was named the 2009 Morning Call Team of the Year and was also league champs and the second place team from District XI.

Schultz, a former local standout at Whitehall High School, resides in Allentown with her husband John and her son Jonathan.

 

Assistant Coach
Dr. Larry Quarino

Eighth Season

Quarino, an assistant at Cedar Crest for the past seven seasons, played high school baseball and spent 15 years as a coach and player in organized softball leagues in and around New York City. He is Assistant Professor of  Chemical and Physical Sciences and the Director of the Nationally Recognized Forensic Science Program at Cedar Crest.
