Art History Minor
The Art History Minor is for students interested in studying the history of art and is an excellent supplement to an Art or History major. See Art History Minor below for course requirements.
The art department supports and enhances the Cedar Crest College mission by way of departmental curriculum and experiences that challenge the student to engage in process and technique that prepares the student to visually or orally communicate independent ideas that are informed by historical, cultural and artistic references. The encouragement of individual expression prepares innovative leaders engaged in creative thinking based on the interconnectedness of the liberal arts. The mission of the art department is to provide art experiences that encourage an understanding of the integrated nature of learning in a liberal arts environment and to provide those who choose the visual arts as a primary focus with the means to reach a high level of excellence. All students enrolled in the visual arts will encounter a quality and challenging experience in process, technique and the history of art in preparation for leadership roles in a variety of careers. In addition the art department supports arts based resources including gallery exhibitions, artist residencies and student initiated programs for the enrichment of the artistic culture of the college and local community.
