The integrated approach to theatre, speech, dance, music and creative writing provides in-depth specialization in combination with general knowledge in related arts areas. Each student is expected to reflect coherence in her course selection. Continual advising and evaluating is essential to success in this program. The course work will reflect a balance of creative and historical/critical experiences. All fine arts majors are obliged to abide by the written Performing Arts Departmental Policies. A grade of C or better is required in all courses taken for application toward all major requirements in the performing arts. 15 credits of course work in the major must be taken at Cedar Crest College.

Program Mission Statement

The mission of the fine arts major is to develop a uniquely constructed program of study in the arts for each student enabling them to develop a broad base of skills and knowledge in a major focus area from one arts programs either music, dance, theatre, art, or creative writing and coupling that knowledge and interest with two secondary areas chosen from the same group. Emphasis is placed on understanding historically significant styles and genres associated with both the main focus area and the secondary area.
