David M. Jaindl
David M. Jaindl is the owner and president of Jaindl Farms, which breeds, hatches, grows and processes more than 750,000 turkeys annually. In 2012 Jaindl Farms grew 1,000,000 turkeys, and also farmed more than 11,000 acres of land in the Lehigh Valley. The business earned “Business of the Year” award honors in 2010 from Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. His other business interests include Jaindl Turkey Sales, Jaindl Land Company and Schantz Orchards.
Jaindl Turkey Sales markets and distributes turkeys throughout the United States from Maine to Florida, and for the first time in 2012, has distributed fresh turkeys to Arizona, Colorado and California. Over the last three years, Jaindl has expanded sales internationally to Japan and the Dominican Republic. Jaindl Turkey Sales custom packages for Wegmans, Whole Foods, Bell and Evans, and Stew Leonards. Jaindl Land Company is a leading Lehigh Valley land developer of residential, commercial and industrial properties. David has served as the president of Jaindl Land Company since 1994 and owner since 2005. In addition, David is owner of Schantz Orchards—a 300-acre orchard which grows more than 60,000 bushels of fruits including apples, peaches, pears and cherries annually.
David Jaindl has a longstanding relationship with Cedar Crest College. His sisters, Alice Jaindl Brown ’79 Nursing and Cathy Jaindl-Leuthe ’83 Management, both graduated from the College, and David served as a trustee from 2005-10. David is actively involved in many philanthropic endeavors. He serves as a trustee for the Jaindl Foundation that benefits various non-profit organizations within the Lehigh Valley. In 2006, he became a co-founder, officer and director of the Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley. The Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley is a non-profit organization which provides a state-of-the-art field where nearly 300 physically and mentally-challenged children and young adults from the Greater Lehigh Valley community are able to play and enjoy the game of baseball. Most recently in 2011 he and his wife, Jackie, chaired Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Children’s ER fundraising campaign.
David resides in Orefield, Pa., with his wife, Jackie, and their five children. Adam, Jake, Luke, Josh and Joanna are all actively involved in the family business.
The Associates Award
The Cedar Crest College Associates Award recognizes an individual or individuals who have made significant contributions to Cedar Crest College; graduates of the College who have achieved success in their chosen fields; or community leaders whose careers reflect the College’s mission of promoting women’s leadership.
The Cedar Crest College Associates Award Luncheon is a fundraising event for the Associates Scholarship. Since 1981, the Associates have awarded student scholarships in order to play a more substantial role in educating future leaders.
