The Associates of Cedar Crest College

Since 1867, Cedar Crest College has gained repute as a strong, independent comprehensive liberal arts college for women. Today, Cedar Crest offers more than 30 fields of study for traditional students and more than 50 programs for adult students in the School of Adult and Graduate Education, five master’s level programs and ten post baccalaureate certificates.

Our entrepreneurial and innovative President, Carmen Twillie Ambar has started her sixth academic year at the College. Her leadership has secured our unique environment which nurtures women leaders of diverse backgrounds and provides students with the academic, financial and professional support necessary to realize their aspirations and to meet local and regional needs in multiple disciplines. The strength, distinctiveness and centrality of our liberal arts education defines Cedar Crest but it is our agility, commitment to student success and redefining learning experiences in the 21st century that will allow us to continue to educate the next generation of leaders.

One of the College’s ancillary groups, the Cedar Crest Associates are business, professional, civic leaders from the Greater Lehigh Valley area who have demonstrated a continuing interest in the pursuit of excellence in the liberal arts education of women.

The Associates joined the College in 1964 in an effort to develop close ties with business and community leaders. Each year, the Associates hosts an award ceremony to recognize an individual(s) who have made significant contributions to Cedar Crest College; graduates of the College who have achieved success in their chosen fields; or community leaders whose careers reflect the College’s mission of promoting women’s leadership. Dollars raised through this event are directed to fund scholarships for local traditional age and adult learners from the Lehigh Valley. Students who have demonstrated their ability to succeed but who do not have the necessary financial support. Our commitment to ensuring educational opportunities for students from all educational, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds has been an integral part of Cedar Crest College. However, now we must make a commitment to provide a proportionally larger share of financial aid and in honor of our 50th Anniversary Celebration, the College respectfully turns to our close business contacts to join us in supporting student success.
