President Ambar to Speak at NCC Event
President Carmen Twillie Ambar will speak at Northampton Community College's "Black Executive Forum" on Tuesday, September 17 at 11 a.m., in conjunction with NCC's annual celebration of Constitution Day. She will speak along with Charles R. Everett, Jr., executive director of the Lehigh Valley International Airport and Alfonso Todd, founder of Alfonso Todd and Associates.
During the program, President Ambar and others plan to discuss their paths to success and offer tips on overcoming obstacles. NCC's Constitution Day program is organized by Vasiliki Anastasakos, associate professor of political science, and Debra Bohr, service learning administrator.
"The Forum ties into Constitution Day in a meaningful way, especially this year as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington," Anastasakos says. "We will celebrate the accomplishments of individuals whose right to pursue their dreams was guaranteed to them through the Constitution, especially the 14th and 19th amendments that enabled women and African Americans to vote.
The forum has been organized by Dr. Brian Alnutt who teaches a history course called "The Black Experience" at Northampton. The program is open to the public free of charge, and will be held in the David A. Reed Community Room on the second floor of the College Center on Northampton's Main Campus.
