Mildly tart and crisp.

Named for the man swallowed by the whale?

Or is it just a name?

Meaning and origin lost now.

Each bite from my prominent front teeth

Leaves the pale open flesh

Softly hissing as it releases its juices.

Have you listened to your apple?

Listening to the cells tearing open

Like seeing ghostly smudges

On a foggy windshield
