I am the sky

            that views the scene below.

I am the sea

whose color swirls at the creatures’ feet.

I am the tiger

           who swipes at the fruit.

I am the seeds

           that tumble down.

I am the eyes

           that float, bloodshot and tired.

I am the elephants

who tower above the purple sea.

I am the fish

           that bursts from a fruit.

I am the cat

           who roars in triumph.

I am the dream

           that slowly fades away

I am the instructions

that are read to inspire the dream.

I am the poet

whose pen shakes as words are written.

I am this poem

which, like the dream, is over.
