Cedar Crest College Urges Students to Move in by Saturday Due to Hurricane Irene

Allentown, Pa. (Aug. 26, 2011)—With the prevailing reports that Hurricane Irene is going to bring severe weather conditions to the area this weekend—and in the interest of safety for our students and the rest of the campus community—Cedar Crest College is urging all students who haven’t moved into the residence halls yet to do so either today or as early as possible on Saturday, Aug. 27. Students can pick up room keys from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tompkins College Center, or any time thereafter from the Campus Police Office, located in the Safety & Facilities Building.

The College is also rescheduling its fall convocation from Sunday to Thursday, Sept. 8, from 11-11:50 a.m. This rescheduling will allow everyone involved with the event—from those responsible for the set up and safety, to those participating in the ceremony, itself—to focus their collective energies on making Fall Convocation 2011 the best it can be.

Classes are currently slated to begin as scheduled on Monday, Aug. 29, but we are closely monitoring the situation. If changes are necessary, we will let students know via our website, the E-2 Campus notification system and/or campus wide e-mail.
