Cedar Crest College Visiting Writer Series Kicks off Oct. 13 with Highly Regarded Poets
Allentown, Pa. (Sept. 27, 2011)—The 2011-12 Visiting Writer Series at Cedar Crest College gets underway with “Visiting…with Three Poets,” featuring readings from poets Anne Blackford, Jude-Laure Denis and Carol F. Dixon, on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m.. The event, which is free to the public, will be held in the 1867 Room in Tompkins College Center. A reception will follow.
Anne Blackford studied poetry at Sarah Lawrence College with Muriel Rukeyser and Jane Cooper. She has been published in the Transatlantic Review, the Iowa Review, Chrysalis and Feminary.
Jude Laure-Denis’s fiction and poetry, which show the influence of her native French and Creole, have appeared in publications such as New Word, Shade, Rain Literary Magazine, Catalyst, and Shooting Star Review.
Carol F. Dixon was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in Poetry and has received several awards for her fiction. Her poetry, fiction and short stories, articles and book reviews have appeared in literary publications that include Obsidian, Shooting Star Review, Brooklyn Review, and more. She periodically teaches composition, poetry, and creative nonfiction at Cedar Crest College.
