Cedar Crest Brings the Roaring Twenties to the Stage with Chicago, Feb. 23-26

Allentown, Pa. (Jan. 31, 2012)—Cedar Crest College Performing Arts presents the Tony Award-winning musical, Chicago, from Feb. 23-25 at 8 p.m., with a matinee on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. The performances will be held in the Samuels Theatre, Tompkins College Center.

With a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse and directed by Cedar Crest College’s Tim Brown, Chicago takes the audience to roaring twenties Chicago, where Roxie Hart murders her lover and convinces her husband Amos to take the rap, until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “merry murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines.

Chicago is always a fan favorite, with a provocative story and great music to grab the audience’s attention and hold on tight for two hours. Anyone who comes to see the Cedar Crest College production is in for a very entertaining evening,” said Brown.

The Chicago cast includes Cedar Crest students Roxanne Addino from Lancaster, Pa.; Desiree Davis from Tobyhanna, Pa.; Marlana Hurd from Belleview, Fla.; Andrea Jordan from Jacksonville, Fla.; Nicole Magloire from York, Pa.; Brenna Mateljan from Friedens, Pa.; Kimberly McCormick from Philadelphia, Pa.; Rebecca Pandone from Blairstown, Pa.; Natalie and Nicole Shute from Sewell, N.J.; Margaret Vaccaro from Allentown, Pa.; Maria Vincent from Georgetown, Del.; Hannah Walters from Grantsville, Md. and Haleigh Washburn from Santa Cruz, Calif. Other in the cast include Muhlenberg College students Michael Barthel and Chris Boucher; Lehigh Carbon Community College student Jon Lynch; DeSales University student Kevin Riddagh; Northampton Community College student Vince Rostkowski; Shawn Williams Salevsky from Macungie, Pa. and Robert Trexler from Bethlehem, Pa.

Stage manager is Cedar Crest student Sarah Brennan from Newark, Del, and lighting design is by student Colleen Shea of Onley, Md. Choreography and musical direction are by Cedar Crest faculty member Robin Gerchman and Dot Hemerly, respectively.

Tickets in advance for Chicago are $18 for adults; $13 for seniors; and $7 for students/children; Tickets day of show are $22 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $10 for students/children.
